The Perfect Murder
Presented by the Progressive Players at Gateshead's Little Theatre is "The Perfect Murder", a black comedy thriller adapted by Shaun McKenna from the novel by Peter James.
It's the first case for a young detective Roy Grace (played on TV by John Simm).
Victor and Joan are trapped in an unhappy marriage. Victor plans to murder his wife, claim the insurance and begin a new life with Kamila, a psychic prostitute. But Joan shows herself to be anything but the hapless victim.p
The production sees the debut for new member Danny Stones, with other parts being taken by PP regulars Zoƫ Anne Slade, Alex Russell and Suzanne Jennings.
Roy Grace himself is played by Jack Stuart, in his second play for the Progressive Players after his own debut in Enlightenment.
The play is directed by Val Neal and Kathryn Weston.
If you've not been to this charming theatre before I can fully recommend it - you'll be made to feel very welcome and can start your evening with a very reasonably priced drink in the bar, or with a restorative cuppa downstairs in the lounge.
The Perfect Murder runs from 17th to 22nd July. Tickets are available from the box office.
