Queers is a set of six monologues celebrating a century of gay history.  From the First World War to the beginning of the 21st Century, each story marks a milestone in British gay history, illuminating changing social attitudes across the years. The stories are by turns warm and witty, poignant and heart-breaking. The performances are impeccable - delivered as conversations with the audience. The set - simplicity itself, a table set with a drink and a selection of props, appropriate to each character. Set against a darkened background which creates a sense of intimacy, and a connection between the characters and audience which could have been missing in an online presentation. It is in fact stunning in its simplicity. Whether you choose to watch on the big screen of a TV or - as I did - on a small laptop, listening through earphones, the quality of the production gives an experience that is both moving and emotional. You will love each one of these characters for their brashness, their vulnerability, their weaknesses and their strengths, and you will share in the angst and the joy of their experiences.

Queers is The People's Theatre's first online production, and it is the perfect appetiser for the start of the new season in September. Tickets are just £10 per household and you have a 48 hr window to watch once purchased. The show is screened until midnight on Sat 10th July.
