Royalty Theatre - 2019/20 Season Preview

ROYALTY THEATRE ANNOUNCE 2019-20
SEASON

The Royalty Theatre have announced what they believe will be a highly entertaining programme of
plays for their 95th season.

The season kicks off in fine style with A Night at the Musicals 3, for two nights only (6 and 7 September).  As ever, there’s the annual family pantomime.  Robin Hood will be performed from 12 to 22 December.

Comedy fans can enjoy Blackadder Goes Forth, (23 to 28 September), an adaptation of the BBC hit comedy that celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.  This is followed by Lee Hall’s comedy Cooking with Elvis from October 28 to 2 November.  And there’s more comedy to finish the season with Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood’s smash hit, Dirty Dusting, from 22 to 27 June.

Theatregoers who might prefer the more dramatic can look forward to Shadowlands (17 to 22 February), which looks at the life of celebrated author CS Lewis.  This is followed by Yazmina Reza’s God of Carnage (23 to 28 March) and from 18 to 23 May, Wait Until Dark, by Dial M for Murder writer Frederick Knott.  Jim Cartwright’s Two will take place in the Royalty’s studio theatre from 22 to 25 January.

Artistic director Lorna Breeze says, “We have an outstanding collection of plays coming up this season, from hilarious comedies to classic thrillers, and as always our much-loved and popular pantomime.  We always strive to produce high-quality productions here at the Royalty Theatre, so please support local theatre and join us in what is going to be a fantastic season for all to enjoy.”
