ROYALTY THEATRE TO CONCLUDE 2018/2019 SEASON WITH JANE AUSTEN'S EMMA
This week sees the final production of the season for the Royalty. They have chosen a new adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma to close their season. This classic story has been adapted for stage by comedian Doon MacKichan and writer Martin Millar.
Initially published in 1815, Austen’s novel tells the story of Emma Woodhouse, a young woman who tries to play matchmaker to the various people in her life. It has been adapted numerous times and its plot was the basis of the 1993 film Clueless.
Director Nikki Slack says, “This is the classic story of Jane Austen’s Emma with a contemporary twist. It’s told through the eyes of Jane Austen’s nieces who bring the characters to life. Not your typical period piece.”
